Opportunities for Families Project

The Opportunities for Families Program promotes long-term economic self-sufficiency by providing public housing residents with certified employment skills training, computer skill building, Internet access in an onsite center, and a diverse array of supportive services.  Life-skills training; onsite practical application; adult mentoring; employment search and placement assistance; and post employment follow-up are integral parts of the program.

The program works with numerous agencies to provide a wide variety of employment skills training including administrative support, emergency medical technician, and medical online courses.  Our partners include JobPoint, Inc., the Columbia Area Career Center, Boone County Fire Protection District, and the Boonslick Vocational Technical School to name a few.

The Opportunities for Families Program is federally funded by the following two Housing and Urban Development Resident Opportunities and Self Sufficiency grant programs:  Resident Services Delivery Model and Neighborhood Networks.
