Public Meeting on Proposed Changes to Traffic on Trinity Place and Allen Street

Special Informational Meeting for Public Housing Residents

Proposed Traffic Changes and Safety Improvements to Trinity Place and Allen Street

Date: Tuesday, January 22, 2013
Time: 6:30 – 7:00 p.m.
Place: J.W. “Blind” Boone Community Center, 301 North Providence Road

As a result of the installation of the new pedestrian median and crosswalk on Providence Road, the Columbia Housing Authority (CHA) is proposing to make some changes to the flow of traffic on Trinity Place and Allen Street.

Three changes are being proposed:

  • Trinity Place will change to a two-way street from Switzler Street to Pendleton Street.  Trinity Place will remain a one-way street from Switzler Street to Park Avenue.
  •  Install two raised “speed humps” and a new crosswalk on Trinity Place.  One speed hump will be installed at the Providence Walkway crosswalk.  The second crosswalk and speed hump will be installed on Trinity Place between the mailboxes at Boone Drive and the corner of Allen Street.
  • Allen Street will change to a two-way street between LaSalle Place and Trinity Place.

City Traffic Engineers and CHA staff will be available at the meeting to answer questions about the project and to receive comments from Public Housing Residents and others concerned with pedestrian safety in the neighborhood.

Please plan to join us for this important meeting about proposed traffic changes and safety improvements to Trinity Place and Allen Street.
