Formal Hearing Panel Applicants Needed

The Columbia Housing Authority Board of Commissioners is seeking volunteers willing to serve on CHA’s Formal Hearing Panel.  The Board of Commissioners will appoint (1) Community Representative and one (1) CHA Assisted Housing Representative to the Formal Hearing Panel and up to two (2) alternates for each position.

The Formal Hearing Panel is made up of three (3) persons as follows:

  • One representative from the CHA Board of Commissioners;
  • One representative from the Columbia community; and
  • One representative of households receiving housing assistance from the CHA.

The Formal Hearing Panel conducts hearings related to the termination of housing assistance for persons living in CHA managed properties or receiving assistance through the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program.

Hearing panel members must be willing to make difficult decisions that often affect the lives and housing of the persons requesting a hearing.  These decisions also impact the lives of other public housing residents, neighbors and landlords.

Applications are due by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2017.
