Resident Advisory Board

The Resident Advisory Board (RAB) provides the Columbia Housing Authority and its residents with a forum for sharing information about the CHA Annual Plan. Section 511 of the United States Housing Act and the regulations in 24 CFR part 903 require that Public Housing Authorities (PHAs) establish one or more Resident Advisory Board (RAB) as part of the PHA Plan process. RAB membership is comprised of individuals who reflect and represent the residents assisted by the PHA.
The role of the Resident Advisory Board (RAB) is to make recommendations and assist the Columbia Housing Authority (CHA) in the development of the CHA Annual Plan and any significant amendments or modifications to the plan that may be proposed during the year.
The Columbia Housing Authority’s (CHA’s) Resident Advisory Board (RAB) gives public housing residents and Section 8 tenants an opportunity to participate in guiding CHA’s programs and policies.  RAB members:
  • Read and comment on changes to CHA policies
  • Review and comment on annual budgets, annual plans, five-year plans, etc.
  • Make other recommendations to the CHA Board of Commissioners as necessary

Resident Advisory Board

The Columbia Housing Authority is seeking Public Housing residents and Section 8 tenants willing to serve on the CHA Resident Advisory Board.
The purpose of the Resident Advisory Board (RAB) is to assist CHA with the development of our Annual Plan and Five-Year Plan. These plans help to shape the future of CHA and focus on the development of housing policies, operational budgets, and public housing capital projects.
The RAB also reviews all changes to CHA’s housing policies governing the administration of our Public Housing and Section 8 programs and makes recommendations on these policies to the CHA Board of Commissioners.
The Resident Advisory Board meets the first Thursday of the month at Paquin Tower from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. during the months of October through June each year.

RAB Meetings

The RAB generally meets the first Thursday of the month, from September through August, from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. in the Community Room at Paquin Tower, 1201 Paquin Street. 

The July RAB meeting has been rescheduled to Thursday, July, 8, 2010 due to the Fourth of July holiday.
